Before and after: kitchens

Isn't it great to receive a much awaited package in the mail? Yesterday I trundled off to work feeling tired and unwell from a lagging virus, but my day was brightened when I got a message that a package was waiting downstairs for me. It was my sailboats - oops I mean my son's sailboats - that I had ordered from White Flowers Farmhouse. All the way from New York state USA. I seriously want to snaffle these for myself!

They are so gorgeous that I left them at work overnight, so I could look at them all day today. Everyone who went past my desk stopped and admired them. The afternoon sun washed over them and they looked beautiful.
Thank you Megan and Lori for sending these over, I love them!

But for now, I am posting some fabulous kitchen remodels. These are real fantasy money-is-no-object kitchen remodels. The kind of kitchen model that a beautiful heritage home deserves. All these kitchens feature the classic elements I love - beautiful craftmanship, lashings of white, stainless steel and simple styling.

It must be so satisfying to turn a tired, old kitchen into a state of the art, highly functional piece of beauty.

All images are from Kitchen Bath Ideas. They have lots of inspirational images to look through.

Best wishes,

Be still my heart! I just discovered Simply Natural and I adore all of your photos. My blog is 2 weeks old, and I am trying to introduce a little more neutral into my home.Hopefully, I will manage to do just that and share it as I go. Who knows...I do still love all my Olde World golds, greens, and russets. You gave me a lot of ideas and inspiration. Thanks! Rhon

We have the same taste in kitchens...white shaker-style cabinets with black soapstone counter tops! We remodeled ours the same way to fit our 1928 house....pictures are here: http://fordsbigbluehouse.blogspot.com/2007/12/my-fabulous-kitchenbefore-it-was.html.
LOVE your blog....wish you would do a post on entry halls!

Wow, those kitchen remodels are just spectacular! I recently had to replace my 21 year old refridgerator and oven, so I replaced them with stainless, which in turn made my faded cabinets look terrible, so I had them painted white...which makes my countertops and backsplash look terrible. I think I might need a glossy subway tile backsplash with a honed granite countertop now!

what a lovely post, since the kitchen is one of my favorite places...
I love the pictures ah, the white style stays and is beautiful. thanks for the info.

I have a question, maybe you as fellow blogger can help me with: how can you comment on a somebody's blog, where you can choose from 'google, aim, typepad, etc' ? I have tried it, but I have no idea what I am doing wrong....

I love those sailboats too! Do you read the blog, The Lettered Cottage, by Layla Palmer? She shares some of your interior design sensibilities and she bought one of those boats for her guest room. You'd like that room!

I love white cabinets in kitchens with a touch of chrome, black and natural wood...modern yet feels comfy like homemade cookies are coming out of the oven any minute.
