What a difference a little sprig of nature makes

I love how just the smallest touch of nature can really lift a room.

A couple of blooms in an old bottle, or a bunch in a bucket or a jug will add a lovely touch.

Some spring blossoms from your garden can add a sweet and fresh touch.

You could pluck some palm fronds from your garden.

Some branches even!

Or how about some herbs?

Or some good old Australian gum leaves!

This weekend I'll be buying some little blooms and I'll put them in a pharmacy bottle.

On a personal note, I had a great day today!

Firstly I made my boss cry. But in a good way. We finished a massive, year long project this week and today I bought her some flowers and a card to say thank you for all the support she has given me along the way. She was overcome with emotion! We then went out with the rest of the team for a fun lunch.

Secondly, my dear friend Kath appeared on television! She is a chocolate reviewer, so there was a feature on A Current Affair on Channel 9 about her. She was her fabulous, funny self, which I loved.

Thirdly, I got mentioned in the Washington Post! Wow!

Fourthly, I got mentioned in the Washington Post along with my lovely blog friend and fellow South Australian Millie from The Laurel Hedge. I couldn't be more chuffed to be mentioned in the same breath as Millie as she not only has a gorgeous blog, but she cracks me up all the time and writes me the most inspiring, sweet messages to me and fellow bloggers out there. She's always making me smile and she's such a kind and generous person.

And fifthly....I get to see my lovely boy, who's been with his dad most of the week. Yay!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,

You absolutely had a banner day, Catherine! Congrats on the Post mention. That used to my paper when I lived in Maryland! The photographs you chose were stunning! Do you actually save magazines, or do you rip out just the photos you like? Where and how do your organize what you save? I have to learn from the pros!

Such a wistful post Catherine, it makes me want to wander out to my poor neglected garden immediately & look for some small miracles. What a lovely end to the week you've had, so well deserved. Thank you for your beautiful words, they mean so much to me.

Make sure you go & do some outrageously silly things with your little star this weekend! My boys say its those silly moments when I threw the normal Mumsie behaviour out the window they've remembered the most!

Thanks for all the lovely comments guys.
PJ - I'm a ripper! I know some people can't stand to do it, but I don't like lots of magazines cluttering up my space. What I do is read the magazine, share it with some people, then when it comes back it sits in a basket for a few months until the basket gets full then I go through the magazines (say half a dozen) and rip rip rip! I then scan them to my computer under various titles/categories. I then throw the ripped pages away except for those that I know I will want to refer to time and time again - I put these in clear plastic protectors sheets and I put them in a lever arch file - my 'home ideas' file - again under various categories. I have found that over the years my 'style file' has really helped to hone my style.
Does that help? Hope so!

Thanks, Catherine! Yes, it really helps. You have a system and it keeps your design 'library' to the essentials. I should try it. I hate clutter, so I wind up throwing the magazines away - without ripping. That's wasteful on my part.
