Heart of glass

I am obsessed with glass things! I must be part magpie, because I'm attracted to shiny, twinkly sparkly glass. Glass bottles, glass jars, glass cloches, glass vases. Old or new. I love glass!!!

Recently at an auction, I lost out when bidding for a beautiful old perfume bottle with a lovely etched silver lid. Also recently at an auction, I found the most magnificent set of old chemist bottles, complete with original labels. Some of them still had medicine inside them. I was so tempted to bid for them, but I had no idea what I would do with such a large collection, should I happen to make the winning bid, so practical considerations won out in the end and I didn't bid. But still, if I find one or two nice ones at a reasonable price, they will be mine!
I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful Easter with your friends and family. We are expecting perfect weather here in Adelaide, so it should be lovely days ahead.
Best wishes,

Catherine, these are really beautiful pictures of glass. I have a glass jar full of buttons sitting on my desk and love seeing all the different coloured buttons right there in front of me each day. I think the vintage cutlery in the glass vase looks fantastic - quite a unique way to display cutlery.
Hope you and your little boy have wonderful Easter together. Lee :)

Catherine, I love your style! Your photos are always so pleasing to the eye. I love your profile and your story of trading down for a smaller bedroom at 14 because of being inspired by a story of small spaces. I like the way you think.

Great post - I too share your love of glass. I would love to find an old apothecary jar (or even a new one) and fill it with seaglass, then place it in my bathroom.

Catherine, I just LOL'd at your magpie comment. My husband always says (in the most squeeky, feminine voice he can muster), "Hello, my name is Tami and I love round, shiny objects."
Maybe that's my problem. Maybe we're long lost magpie cousins?

Love, love, love glass - it's a lovely thing to collect and like white, all glass goes together. It doesn't matter whether it's old or new, expensive or mass produced - it's just beautiful when displayed together!

Hi Catherine,

What a beautiful post ~ I love glass too. It makes everything look so sparkly and pretty.
I especially love the old Chanel No.5 bottle ( my favourite perfume) and the old violettes and the tall cloche.

Have a happy Easter and weekend.
