Feeling rusty

dekorerat se rusty letters

Rusty things immediately catch my eye. I love their strong brown colour and their jaggedy texture.

I love the rough with the smooth, the old with the new, the light with the dark. I think rusty old things add a timeworn, homespun feel to a room – character!

I have so many rusty things in my house. Some people don’t understand the attraction, but I’m in love.

Here’s one of my rusty lanterns – I have two. I bought these on holidays about ten years ago from seaside holiday town Noosa on holiday. Alongside it is a rusty photo frame I got in  Sydney many years ago too. If you look closely you might see me in the picture with my brother and sister – I’m the little one!

This little rusty table was a recent bargain buy I couldn’t resist. I love how the colour of the sticks blends in so well with the table.

And this is a rusty architectural salvage piece I have in my living room that I picked up on auction.

Catherine, you have so many beautiful things in your home! I love rusty objects too. A house guest has just given me a pair of wire birds as a gift and my first thought was 'I must put these outside to rust up a little bit'!! I just love the patina of old, rusty things. Your little table is particularly gorgeous. What a find!

Your rusty pieces are so fabulous!

I've noticed that clients love when I refer to a rusted piece as "patinad".. suddenly their seeing rust in a whole new light!

I have some rusty old tools in the garage which although i love to use, have never thought to photograph! they are beautiful in their own right.

When we moved into our house the owners left and old rusted garden set behind...my husband wanted to either throw it out or have it stripped and painted...but I just love the idea of how the weather has worn these chairs beautifully...a bit of rust never hurt anyone...

You need to come to TEXAS - if you love rusty pieces - it is so humid here that everything rusts when you put outside! I love your little corner table though - very nice.
